For Love Only: Courageous Conversations
Celeste Meyer, LPC: LGBTQ+ Support (End of Limited Series)

Celeste Meyer, LPC: LGBTQ+ Support (End of Limited Series)

August 31, 2020

During this courageous conversation, Celeste and I discussed:

  • How being an outsider of the mainstream culture effects nervous systems, feelings of safety, the sense of belonging, and protection
  • Examples of developmental trauma
  • Facts about the LGBTQ+ spectrum
  • Why Celeste chooses to use the reparative financial justice model to provide sliding scale fees to transgender and BIPOC clients
  • Other resources to educate ourselves about the LGBTQ+ community
  • How I may have caused more harm by trying to be “inclusive”

This episode also includes a special message for us who are collectively grieving over the pervasive threats of systemic racism, gender-based violence (as with the shooting of Meg the Stallion) and the loss of our beloved Chadwick Boseman.

Remember that this is the end of the limited series for the summer. I will return with new episodes soon! Stay connected by subscribing to my newsletter by going to www.faithjoyner.com.

In Between Knowing Better & Doing Better

In Between Knowing Better & Doing Better

January 27, 2020

Are you tired of people making excuses for their sh*tty behavior? Do you know someone who needs to work on their emotional well-being but refuses to invest in themselves? In this candid and courageous conversation I shared: ⁣

  • ⁣That there's a dangerous movement developing emotional martyrs⁣
  • How not having a great upbringing isn't an excuse to mistreat, abuse, or use people⁣
  • How to set and follow through on your boundaries with someone who is overwhelming you with their problems⁣
  • Why we need to stop the excuses, "That's just the way times were back then" and "That's the best they can do"⁣
  • Why it's necessary to invest in our emotional well-being outside of social media⁣

⁣It's time to stop tap dancing around our needs so that we can have fulfilling relationships! Happy Listening⁣!
